For a Republican, you want to be a fiscal conservative centered on improving businesses and upholding Second Amendment rights. The strategy to winning Election Day is simple–pick issues that resonate with your party, meet with factions that you want to improve your relations with, and try to side with your party's position on individual issues. On top of that, you can choose to attack other candidates to bring them down in the poll ratings, although these attacks aren't always (read: usually) successful. Every few weeks, you will have presidential debates where you can choose to address on one of the six audiences, delegating your focus with a slider bar. The other element of the game is Debates. After you pick a position on each issue, you will then be presented with that week's poll results, which shows how you're performing among the general public. These actions may have their consequences with opposing factions, which is why balance is key. Similarly, by choosing to lower taxes for wealthy individuals as a Republican, your affinity with Businesses with go up. If you answer Yes as Democrat, your affinity with the Foreign faction will rise. For instance, by choosing to meet with foreign leaders, you will be asked "Should relations with Cuba be improved?". As you progress through the game and take positions on individual stances, your affinity will rise with some factions and plummet with others, all of which affects your ranking in the weekly polls. These include: Party, Public, Media, Foreign, Business, and Staff. From here, you start each round of the game (referred to as "Weeks Until Election") by choosing to meet with one of six different factions in an effort to raise your affinity with them. When you begin a new game, you pick Democrat or Republican and then select among six candidates of that party from this year's election to run as. Election Day 2016 is a choice-based game that more closely relates to the US Presidential Election than most of the titles mentioned here.
